Taking part in the Race Across the West requires significant investments of money, time, and effort. I have accumulated many of the bike related supplies I will need and have saved money to help cover part of the cost of competing. My parents, Beryl and John Carpenter, and my cousins, Brian and Lynda Rosin, have generously given up their vacation time to be my crew. My wife Melissa and son Sam, are very supportive putting up with my many weekends away racing and my longs hours of training.
Even with these resources, the race presents a number of financial challenges. Some of the major costs include the rental of a vehicle to get to and from the start and for the duration of the event, food and lodging for rider and crew, gas, and miscellaneous supplies. Contributions or sponsorship to help defray these costs would be grealty appreciated. A list of the businesses and organizations and individuals who have sponsored my race are listed on the sponsorship page.
If you are interested in making a contribution or sponsoring my race please contact me either by email me at Paul Carpenter or by phone at (630) 879 9638. I will also be selling t-shirts to help raise funds to cover the costs of competing. The t-shirts will be available shortly and will cost $15 each plus shipping. The logo design is pictured on the right. If you would like to purchase a shirt please contact me.
In addition, there is some equipment I will need: specifically, a global positioning system and 2-way radios. If you are able to loan or donate such equipment it would be much appreciated. If you feel you can offer any additional assistance please email me at Paul Carpenter or phone me on (630) 879 9638. |
