SKILLS:
Good with people, gregarious, cycling nut, family orientated, high organisational and leadership skills and driven to help. Good driver with clean licences, need little sleep (6 hours a night normally). Love sport such as squash, skiing etc and will try most things once. Not a bad cook. Music likes are eclectic and varied. Top films are always blockbuster style. Believe in personal development and mind over matter. Not religious, but have no doubt that we are here for a reason, so better to make the most of what time we have rather than drift through life, short as it is.
EXPERIENCE:
I have never crewed before but raced RAW in 2009.
EXPECTATIONS:
To be proud of a challenging set of tasks already achieved, and anticipate those yet to come. To be part of something special in RAAM.
Mantra:
It used to be Life is a vicious cycle-it still is but judging by the number of accidents I have had, it is now 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!'
BACKGROUND:
Age 46 at RAAM 2010, married to Irene for 21 years, two kids, Josh and Beth, 19 and 16 respectively. Born London, brought up in London until 8 then Wales until 16, then joined the Royal Navy and went to sea. Career:
Royal Naval Engineering Officer for ten years-degree in Marine Engineering and Aircraft Carrier specialist.
Offshore Investment and tax and trust specialist for the next ten years with offshore life companies followed by becoming a partner in an Independent Advisor firm for 11 years. Retired this Christmas to take a two year sabbatical before opting for a new career change in 2012/13. Met Paul at Sebring and offered to crew after having to pull out of RAW due to injuries.
